Privacy groups urge FTC to investigate TikTok for alleged COPPA violations.The Centre for Digital Democracy has announced on 14 May 2020 that along with a coalition of other U.S. child advocacy, consumer, and privacy groups had submitted a complaint before the Federal Trade Committee ('FTC') made a request to investigate TikTok Inc. for alleged violations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ('COPPA') and the FTC's Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule of 1999 ('COPPA Rule'). the Complaint highlights that TikTok had agreed with the FTC in February 2019 and angreed that It has not destroyed all personal information.
the Complaint alleges that TikTok is violating the COPPA Rule by failing to post a prominent. Finally the Complaint says that TikTok does not include in its online privacy notice the name, address, telephone number, and email address of all operators collecting or maintaining personal information.TikTok app and other information required to be disclosed under the COPPA Rule.
