An important feature has been launched by facebok in India, which allows user to “lock” their profiles, which will allow only friends to see their photo and profiles.The new feature will start in India on Thursday, and will be available for other countries too.
This feature will be beneficial for women as Women were most nervous about their profile picture being downloaded and shared.specially in india where women photos are being misused.many women reported that their photos were used in fake Facebook profiles. Though social media is a good platform to make new friends but at the same time privacy is one of most important topic to look at,without privacy users will not feel safe.
People will be able to change the setting without Searching privacy settings.
A "blue badge" will appear as an indicator that the profile can be locked. If the feature is activated, users will not be able to post publicly. To post publicly user will have to remove the profile lock feature.
Facebook India public policy director Ankhi Das, said “in the number of internet users in India, said one of the most common barrier is concern for their safety. “We are deeply aware of the concerns people in India, particularly women, have about protecting their online profile. Today, we are announcing a new feature which, in one easy step, will give people a lot more control, ensure their privacy and keep them safe and secure online,”.
